If the player's card is higher than the dealer's card, the player wins. The opposite happens when the dealer's card has higher points than the other player. However, when the total points of your card go beyond 21, it is called a bust and you automatically lose. The basic rules of playing blackjack are that simple.
The thrill of the game comes in the decision making of the player when called upon to decide to either hit or stand. Hitting means you will be given another card by the dealer to be added to the sum of the current cards at hand. It is advisable to make a hit when the total sum of your cards at hand is from 16 points and below. To stand means you are contented with the total points of your card at hand and confident that you can beat the points of the dealer's card. It is advisable to make a stand with cards at hand with points from 17 and above.
